You have access to a registered nurse 24 hours a day, seven days a week. A nurse can speak to you over the phone in your preferred language. The nurse will help you decide if you:

  • Need to go to an urgent care facility.
  • Can wait to see your doctor.
  • Can take care of your symptoms at home.

  • Diagnostic and preventive dental care (such as checkups, x-rays, and teeth cleanings).
  • Pain control.

It is important to set up routine care with a primary care provider (PCP). A PCP can provide:

  • Preventive care
  • Teach healthy lifestyle choices.
  • Identify and treat medical conditions.
  • Make referrals to specialists, when needed.

If you need a ride to or from a medical appointment, one-way or roundtrip rides are available for your next medical visit at no cost to you through Ventura Transit System (VTS).

Two types of transportation services are available:

  • Non-emergency medical transportation (NEMT).
  • Non-medical transportation (NMT).

Urgent care is for medical issues that do not need emergency room services but need quick attention from a health care provider. You should visit an urgent care facility or walk-in clinic if you can't get an appointment with your primary care provider within 48 hours of your medical issue occurring.

Eye exams at every age can help keep your vision strong. You can see an eye doctor for:

  • Routine eye exams.
  • Diabetic eye exams.
  • Glasses or contact lenses.
