Vision Services

If you're a Gold Coast Health Plan (GCHP) member, your vision insurance is provided through the Vision Service Plan (VSP). Learn more about your high-quality vision coverage and find a Medi-Cal approved eye doctor near you.

Your Vision Care Plan

As a GCHP member, your vision care benefits include:

Routine eye exams: VSP covers a routine eye exam every two years.

Diabetic eye exams: Members who have been diagnosed with diabetes may receive an eye exam once a year. Be sure to tell your eye doctor that you have diabetes when you call to schedule your annual appointment.

Glasses: Frames and lenses are covered once every two years.

Contact lenses in some cases: Contacts may be covered when they're needed for eye problems, including:

  • Aphakia.
  • Aniridia.
  • Keratoconus.

When you've found an eye doctor, call their office to schedule an exam. Be sure to have your GCHP member information handy.

Do you need help with your vision health plan? We recommend first contacting VSP in one of the following methods:

  • Call VSP at 1.800.877.7195 Monday through Friday from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. If you use a TTY, call 1.800.428.4833.
  • Email VSP. You should get a response within 12 to 15 business hours.
